Each week in worship, the Word of God is broken open by the preacher during the Sermon, just as during the Eucharist, the consecrated Bread is broken to be shared with the Body of Christ. In the Episcopal tradition, Word and Sacrament are the two major portions of the Holy Eucharist, by which we are fed and energized for mission in the world.
