The Food Ministry is the most active of the key ministries supported by the Outreach Commission. Parishioners participate in a variety of local food efforts. For more information on any of these opportunities, please contact food@stpetersgv.org.

Food Pantry – We regularly supply supply food  items, including fresh eggs for two pantries, the Community Youth and Women’s Alliance (CYWA) in Coatesville and Alianzas in Phoenixville. At CYWA, volunteers also prepare and distribute lunches, serve on committees, and offer a yearly distribution of new coats and holiday gifts. In 2022 the food distribution at CYWA increased by 50% to serve approximately 300 families.

The Darby Dinner ministry involves preparing and serving meals to as many as 100 people in Darby Borough at the Darby Recreation Center. Affiliated with the Darby Mission and Episcopal Community Services, this outreach opportunity seeks to alleviate systemic hunger. Parishioners also gather hams and  the ingredients for many families to have a special Easter or Thanksgiving meal.

Additional activities vary and have included a food and book distribution at St. Peter’s, packing weekend lunches for school children, serving summer lunches, providing food gift cards and packing food for international distribution through the Rise Against Hunger organization.
