Calling all readers! We invite you to participate and guide the choices in our new book club. We will meet monthly by ZOOM, beginning at 7:00 pm Monday, February 20, 2023. You are encouraged to invite friends to attend any month.
It will be a time to build community while we respectfully explore our beliefs and current issues. We will increase our knowledge and expand our hearts as we walk in another’s shoes through both fiction and non-fiction stories. Participants can suggest hopeful and meaningful book choices, discussion questions, and our best meeting time or place.
The February selection is the Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall & Denver Moore. This is a remarkable true story of hope and an unlikely friendship developed through a food ministry. This book can also be enjoyed as a movie. (The link above is to Amazon, but it can be purchased elsewhere for less.)
Our March selection, to be chosen by attendees, will relate to nature and the environment based on a group survey.. Additional months may include reading related to our ministry areas including the indigenous experiences, immigration, religion and/or healthcare. During the summer, one book could be youth-oriented.
For additional information and the ZOOM link or to make suggestions, please contact Brenda Grove.
Please note: If you are interested in an in-depth exploration of racism, see the efforts from our Diocese at https://anti-racism-commission.constantcontactsites.com/blog and consider attending the training or participating in the longer group study, Sacred Ground. Note the blog that highlights the unfortunate zoning problems faced by churches in Pottstown serving food to the needy.
