Schedule Revisions at St. Peter’s
First of all, I want to thank all of you for the thoughtful ways in which you are responding at this difficult time. St. Peter’s is a faithful community of caring people. That has always been evident to me and has been especially evident in the past week. While I missed seeing you in person yesterday, our first effort at Sunday morning via Facebook live was a success and it was a true joy to read your comments and receive your messages of support. Thank you!
In the midst of uncertainty, we can be sure of God’s steadfast love that does not know the restriction of “social distancing.” To keep us all grounded in this, Chris and I will be adding daily Noonday Prayer to our offerings. This will be available on Facebook live at 12:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Also, if you wish to spend time in either the historic church or bank barn for private prayer, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on my cell at 410-829-4180 to make arrangements.
As promised over the weekend, I am writing today to provide information on how we will proceed with virtual gatherings during this time when in-person meetings are restricted. For the sake of clarity, the information is provided in list form.
Monday morning Atwater walks are suspended until March 30. As weather and circumstances permit, I will walk through the neighborhood on my own when we are not able to walk together.
Tuesday centering prayer will not happen as planned. Instead, I will pray in the historic church from 6:30-7:00 p.m. I invite you to join me in prayer wherever you are. If you plan to do this, please let me know and I will connect with you via email before prayer begins.
The Vestry meeting will take place via Zoom or conference call. Vestry members have been sent the information.
Wednesday Morning Prayer and Bible Study will take place by Zoom or conference call. Information on how to access has been sent to the usual participants. If you wish to participate this week for the first time, please contact Chris at Chris@stpetersgv.org for the necessary details.
Wednesday evening soup supper and Lenten program will take place via Zoom starting at 6:30 p.m. The link is here: https://zoom.us/j/9717421358. Meeting ID: 971 742 1358. If you have any technical questions, please contact Chris at Chris@stpetersgv.org.
The choir has been notified that there will be no choir rehearsals until further notice.
Gathering of Men will not meet at 7:00 a.m. on Friday until further notice.
Stations of the Cross will be available on Facebook live on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
There will be no public worship on Sunday, March 22 or Sunday, March 29. Instead, the service will be available again via Facebook live. Expect a bit more music, better access to the leaflet, and perhaps Zoom coffee hour. More information to come later in the week.
Your clergy are always available to, and eager to hear from you. My email address is email@example.com and my cell is 410-829-4180. At this time, I plan for the parish office to be open March 16-20 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Probably Chris and I will be in the office later than that most days Please know that I will continue to assess office hours based on evolving information to be sure that we are doing all that we need to do to keep everyone safe.
Some words of prayer for you.
Let nothing disturb thee.
Nothing affright thee;
All things are passing;
God never changeth.
Patient endurance attaineth to all things;
Who God possesseth in nothing is wanting:
Alone God sufficeth.
– St. Teresa of Avila
God of hope, from you come every blessing and all peace: Show us that, in the midst of our struggles, you are with us. Give us the abundance of your grace that we may do the work you give us to do and that we may be for the world a sign of your presence; through Christ, the Way, and the Truth. Amen.
– Daily Prayers for all Seasons
Peace and love to you all,
