This Sunday, we continue the “Who Is Our Neighbor” series with Steve Ockenden at 10:20AM in the Barn.
In our first session, we examined the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, trying to distinguish between rights that are unalienable and those that are simply possible goals contingent on sufficient resources and political support. We came to no consensus on these questions, leading us to recognize that this is an area that is open to interpretation, requiring careful discernment.
We will continue our discussion in the second session, focusing on two key questions:
- Does our faith impose any obligations on us in terms of defining and promoting human rights?
2. If we believe that some rights are indivisible and universal, what means are at our disposal to promote those rights beyond our own borders?
