Mary Ann Furin
Teacher, Pre-K Class

Mary Anne moved to Pennsylvania thirteen years ago from Ohio, where she taught at age levels from preschool through junior high. She graduated from Marygrove College in Detroit and received her Masters in Early Childhood from Cleveland State University. She is certifed in Pennsylvania in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She and her husband have four children and five grandshildren. This is her thirteenth year at St. Peter’s.

Mary Anne Burton
Teacher, 2- and 3-Day Classes

Mary Anne came from Connecticut to Pennsylvania fourteen years ago. She graduated from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT, with a degree in Special Education/Elementary Education, and received a Master’s Degree in Reading and a six-year Degree in Special Education. She taught children with learning disabilities for eleven years and Kindergarten for four years in Connecticut. She lives in Phoenixville with her husband and three daughters of 24, 20 (in her second year of college) and 16 (a graduate of Mrs. Furin’s first class 13 years ago!). She volunteers at the Phoenixville Chapter of Art Goes to School.

Julie Hooker
Teachers' Aide

Julie moved to Pennsylvania from Maryland 22 years ago. While raising her children, she worked as an in-home day care provider for several families. She has been employed by East Pikeland Elementary School as well as Chesterbrook Academy as a teacher’s aide. She has also worked as a nanny for two families whose children have attended St. Peter’s Preschool. Julie lives in Kimberton with her husband. They have two sons, Matthew who is 26 and Brian who is 22.

Jamie McArdle
Director

Jamie, a member of St. Peter’s Church, holds degrees in Communication Studies and Geology from the California State University at Sacramento, and has worked in project and program management, database design, public relations, and web development and programming, while volunteering in music and children’s ministries and creating and maintaining community websites. She helped to inaugurate the Morning Out Program at St. Peter’s, designed the Morning Out room, and served as the program’s lead teacher from January to May 2006. Jamie also directs the St. Peter’s Lambs Day Camp program, initiated in Summer 2006. She seeks to discern and serve the best interests of the children enrolled at St. Peter’s by recognizing the unique spirit of each child and by supporting the work of the Preschool’s remarkable staff. She and her husband Steve Hartman have three children, aged 9, 5, and 3, of whom the younger two are St. Peter’s Preschool students.
