It was our young BB4J-in-training who yelled “Monarch” as we were loading the truck with tools for the days work. What a beautiful sight to begin our day. Our first focus was the rose garden and patio area: big wedding and reception today. The weeds are now gone and BB4J-i-t #2 enjoyed using the Holy Flame Thrower on the patio area.
Brendan Hickey was also on hand mowing the preschool playground area. Brendan, it is all about showing up. Thank you for being so faithful to the preschool area.
After taking care of the weeds, Dave Tatum weed whacked around the barn and used the blower to clean up the sidewalks. Next, on to the wood chips to finish the trail. It looks great. When the bridge is reopened once again, our daily visitors from the corporate center and joggers will be surprised and pleased to be able to use the steps and new trail to access the Holy Hill. The railing will be the next improvement.
Our next focus was the Labyrinth. More weed whacking and we ran out of propane torching the weeds. We now have a full tank for Monday. Lloyd Reynolds stopped by to check on our progress. Of course, Lloyd and Jack Belsinger spent hours on the XMark and Cheetah mowing the grass on Thursday and Friday.
BB4J-i-t’s #1 and #2 spent an hour going from tree to tree reestablishing the mulch rings that are constantly under assault from the mowers. We also established an area on the eastern boundary for all the hoses that we have. They are out of sight but coiled up and off the ground. (One of our mowers had an encounter with a hose that was left extended on the ground. The mower won.) We ended our day by emptying the trash in the shed and doing some maintenance (pm) on the weed whackers. The girls (the BB4J-i-t’s) are now experts in restringing the heads of the weed whackers. Brendan, they can give you lessons!
