Good Works, Inc. is a Christian home repair ministry located in Coatesville, Pennsylvania formed to assist economically disadvantaged homeowners in Chester County. By helping to make their homes warmer, safer and drier, hopelessness is replaced with the hope found in Jesus Christ. Services are provided at no cost to the homeowner, with volunteers - including a growing number of St. Peter's parishioners - doing most of the work. This is St. Peter's report for July 10, 2004.
Good Works Report for July 2004
By Roger Thorne, Work Crew Leader
As problematic as the June Work Day was, the July 10th effort went that smoothly, with a maximum contribution of results channeled into the homes of Mrs. Catherine Robinson and Mrs. Esther Johnson where we are privileged to serve.
At Mrs. Robinson’s home, Technical Coordinator Jason Hacker, first-timer Mike Ritchie, and veterans Andy Fields and Karl Weir installed a luan sub-flooring material in her kitchen in preparation for a new vinyl tile floor. Jason, Andy, and Karl replaced her old bathroom window with a smaller, sliding window with frosted glass Finally, veteran Terry Paynter and Work Crew Leader Hugh McClennan stripped, scraped and patched her hallway walls in preparation for painting them in August.
At Mrs. Esther Johnson's home, rather than write a technical description of the team's accomplishments, I will let a few pictures depict the day of work.
Our next work day will be Saturday, August 14th. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, click here. If you are willing to participate, contact Mark Carkhuff or call 610-935-1623.
