They’re coming back again this summer, those delightful youngsters of Camp Get-Along, a year-round day camp operated by St. John the Evangelist and St. Peter’s Episcopal Churches in Philadelphia. This camp for children from three to twelve offers field trips as part of its summer program, and for the past several years St. Peter’s has gleefully hosted the campers on our holy hill for a day.
On Wednesday, July 8, we will greet their buses as they arrive in what looks to them like “the country,” and lead them in a morning of outdoor fun, including water games, circle games, and a reappearance of last year’s hit, the giant inflated waterslide. The morning ends with a shared lunch (recently held indoors, given the heat outside).
There will be several ways to join in the fun-filled outreach adventure. We need volunteers of all ages to lead and participate in the outdoor activities, provide sandwiches for lunch, and help serve the meal. Please contact Gail Guthridge (610-688-1986 or email@example.com) if you would like to participate in this memorable outreach opportunity. The “veteran helpers” assure you that you won’t be sorry you came along to Camp Get-Along on July 8!
